Lucas Narrative paragraph #2 Fitz English 6/10/14 Being new at Fenn
"The idea of avant-garde art is a very suspicious thing to me, the idea that poetry is new and it keeps being new the way Chevrolets every year are new." Robert Morgan
Being new anywhere is difficult. Whenever I am new somewhere I am always extremely shy the first few days. If I see someone walking towards me they never try to talk to me and instead seem to just steer clear. The first day I came to Fenn I was very shy. Even if I tried to stay by myself everyone anyways came and said hello. No matter what grade they were in they came and welcomed me to Fenn which showed me what a good school Fenn was. I was dropped off eight o'clock at my new school last year in august. I kept thinking how I was going to a new school just because my brother wanted to go to high school in America. I remember walking into Mrs.Heaton's Advisor class last year. I was extremely scared because I did not know what to expect. When I heard that first sentence "So tell us a little about yourself" people always ask when you are new I knew I had to make a good first impression. First thing I blurted out though was that my family moves almost once every year. People looked at me with strange looks when I talked about living in Sweden and Spain and how I had gone to seven different schools in my life. First I thought everyone was going to laugh and ask me if I was joking but instead they nodded and believed it without questioning me. Most of the time being new is not something that is easy, but when I came to Fenn it was easier than ever. The community felt like home from the first step I took on campus. Out of all the schools I have been in out in the world this is definitely my favorite. Being new might not be easy but if you try you might notice that it is easier then you think.
